Teach observation skills - help you be more aware of your surroundings so that a dangerous situation can be avoided |
| Teach personal defense - NEODF will show you how to appropriately react to a hazardous situation by conducting classes on personal self-defense, pistol training, SWAT training, etc... | |
| Survival skills - whether trying to survive an extended power outage...or trying to survive in the outdoors - NEODF can help you know how to get out of the situation by offering classes and training on rappelling, first-aid, NBC training and MUCH more.. | |
| Provide empowerment.. When you and your family know what to do and how to respond to disasters and emergencies - you become stronger and more confident through your ability to withstand WHATEVER the world throws at you... |
| Each one of your cars has jumper cables, spare tire, first-aid kit, flashlights, fire extinguisher... | |
| Your primary reason for getting a cell phone was an immediate link to emergency services... | |
| When hunting, your backpack has a first-aid kit, emergency food, a GPS... | |
| You have insurance: life, homeowners, auto, emergency towing, etc... | |
| Your home has a security alarm, smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms... | |
| These are all examples of "REACTIVE" preparedness. In other words, SHOULD a bad event happen, you have prepared yourself to minimize the final impact it could have on your life, your family's lives, and your property... |
| Medical insurance doesn't prevent you from becoming sick... | |
| A spare tire doesn't protect you from getting a flat tire - any more than the jumper cables will protect you from a dead battery... | |
| A fire extinguisher doesn't protect you from having a fire... | |
| You must participate in some "PRO-ACTIVE" preparedness! |
| Motion Sensor lights and dead bolts reduce the likelihood that you'll have someone break into your home... | |
| You maintain a certain level of physical fitness, reducing the likelihood that you will contract some debilitating illnesses.. | |
| You practice and train to be more conscious of your world around you, reducing the likelihood that an act of violence or criminal activity will take you unaware |
Most individuals do not take a PRO-active stance with regard to violence and criminal intent in our society today. Even though statistics indicate that in a lot of our communities violent crime is down - we cannot ignore what is happening or ever underestimate the chance of unintentionally becoming victims.
| In this world today, there are individuals and groups that would see our way of life - a life of liberty and freedom - eliminated.. IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE |

That is why we MUST do EVERYTHING that we can to provide for the safety of ourselves and the safety and security of our families and our lifestyle |

There is no "Boot Camp" or physical conditioning , although members are expected to stay in good physical condition. We have positions open for diabled persons. We do not discriminate because of age, race, gender, faith or physical ability. Everyone age 16 and older is invited to apply. We have a Cadet Program for ages 12 - 16 and a Pathfinder Program for ages 11 and under, both available only to the families of adult members.
Since this is a volunteer organization, no one receives pay. Membership dues are $10 per month. This, added to donations, is used to provide support for supplies, equipment, and training.
NEODF provides training in NBC defense, first aid, field sanitation, bivouacking, personal and group defense, marksmanship, field and urban defense maneuvers, tracking and rappelling just to name a few. Training is extremely diverse and continuous in many more categories, too many to mention here. Some outside courses may include scuba / sky diving and EMS seminars. These outside courses are usually provided by fee-based vendors and are individually paid for - usually with group rates provided. The organization works with local agencies such as county EMA, fire & rescue units, local police, and Sheriff departments.
